GCSE results: Schools show marked improvements

Staff and pupils have achieved record breaking results at Methwold High School.
Fifty-seven per cent of pupils at the school achieved grades A*-C and 85 per cent achieved A*-G.

Denise Walker, headteacher, said: "This is a huge improvement on our performance and we are absolutely delighted."

Star pupil Coral Cromie, 16, achieved five As and one A*.

She said: "I'm absolutely overwhelmed."

- ROSEMARY Musker High School, in Thetford, has also had its best ever results, as 50 per cent of pupils achieved five A*-C grades – a 12 per cent improvement on last year.

John Lucas, headteacher, said: "These results are really pleasing."

Josh Ahmed, 16, achieved one A*, three As and six Bs.

He said: "I've achieved all I hoped to."

- At Charles Burrell High School, in Thetford, recorded the second best results in the school's history, with 31 per cent of pupils achieving five A*-C grades.

Nancy Robinson, headteacher, said: "These results are particularly pleasing, given the high percentage of students with special needs."

Notable successes include Glen James, who achieved three A*s, two As and six Bs.

- THETFORD Grammar School celebrated record results, with 27.2 per cent of pupils achieving A* grades.

More than a third of students gained at least nine A* or A grades and all of the 26 pupils who took GCSEs at the school gained at least five A*-C grades.
