Dreams came true for a young Thetford football fan this week when he led out the England football team at Wembley Stadium.
Joseph Kingsbury, eight, of Nunnery Drove, was a mascot at England's international friendly match against the Czech Republic on Wednesday – an honour he won after his dad, Paul, entered an online competition run by Nationwide building society.
Joseph, who plays for Thetford Independents Football Club, also won four tickets to the game and a replica kit to keep.
Speaking before the match, Joseph said: "I have seen England play on the telly but I have never been to a live England match or visited Wembley Stadium before and I just can't wait to get there.
"I feel lucky. My friends think it's really good and all my family will be there to see me, including my mum, my dad and my brother Daniel.
"I am a Manchester United fan and my favourite player is Wayne Rooney and I would love to meet him at the game."
And Joseph got to do just that when he walked out on to the pitch with his hero.
Speaking after the match, Joseph said: "I told him he was my favourite player and I support Manchester United. I had such a good time and I'm glad we managed to equalise at the end."
Mr Kingsbury said: "I never expected to win anything from the competition and I was deeply suspicious when I was called and asked to confirm my details over the phone."
Chris Hull, Nationwide's sponsorship controller, said: "The England team mascots will have the thrill of being greeted by 90,000 supporters at Wembley, as well as being seen by millions of people watching on television."
