Extreme watersports such as water-skiing and wakeboarding could soon be on offer in Elveden if a plan for a new facility is approved.
Center Parcs has submitted an application to Forest Heath District Council for a cable water-ski facility.

If approved, it will be the only site in East Anglia to offer water-skiing, wake boarding and knee boarding without the need of a motorboat. Company bosses hope the facility will encourage more visitors to the area.

Paul Stewart, leisure services manager at the holiday complex, said: "This development is very exciting and will offer something completely new for our residents, day visitors and staff.

"The sports are great fun. Anybody who takes part in them already will know the hardest thing to do is stand up, so we will have a slow practice cable to ensure beginners as well experienced users can make the most of the facilities."

Mr Stewart has confirmed the pylons to hold the cable will be built below the holiday village's tree-line to blend in with the surrounding area and that the company did not expect to receive any objections to the plans.

A consultation period for the planning application runs until September 19. To view or comment on it, visit www.forest-heath.gov.uk/Planning
