A Hockwold man, who is half the man he used to be after shedding more than 15 stone, is celebrating after coming second in a national weight loss competition.
Dick Baker was announced as one of the UK's Greatest Losers in the Slimming World Slimmer of the Year Awards, held in London on April 29.

He was selected for the final 10 out of more than 350,000 members nationally.

Mr Baker, 68, who has lost 15st 2.5lb, was presented with a personalised award and certificate by Slimming World managing director Caryl Richards.

"Before I lost the weight I'd sit at home every night eating crisps and doing jigsaws," said Mr Baker.

"Now, I've become a parish councillor, I walk and have even taken up cycling – and it's 40 years since I last rode a bike."

Mr Baker attends the Brandon Slimming World group, which runs on Tuesdays at 6.30pm at the Brandon Church Institute, in Victoria Avenue.

For further information or to join, call group leader Julie Steele on 01366 727248.
