A Suffolk MP has said 'enough is enough' after a Thetford man died in a road accident on the A11.
Mark Archer, 32, of Spindle Drive, Thetford, died in the early hours of April 23 when his Citroen Saxo was involved in a collision with an articulated lorry just north of the junction with the B1112.

Emergency services were called at around 1.45am, but Mr Archer was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver was treated for minor injuries.

The road was closed between Mildenhall and Elveden until 10am to allow police to undertake an accident investigation. Mr Archer's family did not wish to comment on the incident.

Richard Spring, MP for West Suffolk, said the tragedy was proof there was an urgent need for the road to be dualled.

He said: "This is another terrible tragedy. Enough is enough. This clearly demonstrates that this is not only the most dangerous road in the East of England, but one of the most dangerous roads in the country.

"It is totally unacceptable that there are endless delays in getting this road dealt with. A concerted effort must be made to try to end this."

Mr Spring's bid to have the A11 dualled between Barton Mills and Thetford was backed by the East of England Development Agency earlier this year.

The agency said the works would cost just over £100 million, but would bring more than £600 million in economic benefits to the region.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the fatal collision or may have further information to call Pc Richard Godden at the Bury Roads Policing Unit on 01284 774100.

n A lorry driver who worked for Trek Highways, in Thetford, died when his road sweeper overturned at Little Abington, in Cambridgeshire, on Tuesday.

The accident happened at 8.45am on the A1307. The identity of the driver has not yet been revealed.
