FRESH from his first win as Stowmarket Town FC team boss Louis Newman is confident of adding new blood to his squad ahead of four days of crucial action.
The Greens Meadow-based club travel to Gorleston for a Ridgeons League Division One fixture tomorrow (ko 3pm) before a Division One KO Cup semi-final at Halstead Town on Tuesday (ko 7.45pm).

Newman watched his side record a first victory under his leadership on Saturday – a 2-1 triumph against second-from-bottom Cornard United (report on page 67) and, in a bid to continue winning ways, has earmarked two new signings.

Refusing to confirm any names, the Stow chief said he was in talks with two players, one of which is with a Ridgeons League Premier Division club.

"I have been here long enough now to realise where our strengths and weaknesses are," said Newman. "I am on the verge of sealing a couple of deals that will really strengthen the squad. But it would be unfair for me to mention names at this stage."

"I firmly believe we are moving in the right direction," he said. "Against Cornard, we were determined and gritty and, while it was not pretty, we got the result that was so important to us."
