STOWMARKET Town FC's league revival will face its sternest test when they entertain promotion hopefuls Whitton United tomorrow (ko 3pm).
Town ventured into unknown territory when they drew against March Town United on Saturday (match report on page 74) – extending their unbeaten run to three Ridgeons League Division One games for the first time this season.

However, Stow team manager Louis Newman is refusing to get carried away.

"We are playing a lot better as a team and that is why our results have improved," he said.

"However, three games unbeaten hardly sets the world on fire and we must keep plugging away and work towards a mid-table finish by the end of the season."

Pacey midfielder Warren Taylor Holt has this week left Stowmarket Town FC for local rivals Debenham LC.

The 24-year-old left winger, who scored Stowmarket's winning goal in last season's Suffolk Senior Cup final against Grundisburgh at Portman Road last year, has swiftly been replaced by Whitton United's 19-year-old Dean Pleasance.

Newman said, "Warren is a good player and everyone at Stowmarket wishes him well.

"I am quite excited by the arrival of Dean because he is a quick player with a bright future ahead of him," said Newman.

Tomorrow's visitors to Greens Meadow have been one of the most consistent teams this term and are currently unbeaten in five outings.

In the two side's previous meeting in August, the game ended in a creditable 0-0 draw at Old Norwich Road.

"Whitton are a solid side and I am sure they will be a big threat to our good form.

"We will be going all out for the three points, but when you take into account their impressive league record, a draw would not be a terrible result for us," he added.
