Swimmers, cyclists and runners across Mid Suffolk have been taking up a sporting challenge to help to raise cash for charity.
In Stowmarket, youngsters and adults have been making a splash at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, as part of a nationwide swimathon to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

One resident, Mike Thorph, took the plunge for the 20th year in a row, clocking up 200 lengths in under two hours, while sisters Charlotte, nine, and Jessica Fletcher, 11, took part for the first time.

Around 30 people took part in the event, with people setting their own personal distance challenge and others swimming in teams.

Karen Green, who organised the event, said: "It was a hectic night but it all went really well. We hope to have raised more than £2,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care."

Meanwhile, Wattisham Airfield has been opening its doors to the public for a charity sprint triathlon.

On Saturday, soldiers and residents were given the challenge to swim 300m, cycle 20km and then do a 5km run.

The event was held to help to raise cash for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association, which helps serving and ex-servicemen, women and their families.
