Youngsters have been parading in Combs Ford to help to raise cash for a play area for their community.
More than 140 children, aged seven weeks to 12, joined in the fun at the Picnic Parade, in Pikes Meadow, on Friday.

The event was organised to help raise money for an enclosed play area on the meadow.

Families sang along to their favourite songs and rhymes, while others had their faces painted, took part in a fancy dress competition or explored a Green Goddess fire engine.

Lisa Mayes, a parent and member of the Pikes Meadow play area committee, said the day raised £308.

"Most of the families walked to the meadow and said how good this was as they usually had to get in a car and drive if they wanted their children to access a safe and stimulating play area. "This support reinforces the desperate need for a new play area in Pikes Meadow."

On September 13, the play committee will be fund-raising outside Argos, in Stowmarket, from 9.30am, with a tombola and cake stall.

Anyone interested in supporting the Pikes Meadow play area campaign should contact Lisa on 01449 614101.
