Stowmarket's longest-married coupled will be chauffeur-driven to a special wedding celebration in the town tomorrow.
Robert and Wynne Kearney, who will have been married 69 years next month, will be driven in a Rolls Royce to the event at St Peter and St Mary's Church in the town.

The church is holding a celebration of marriage that will feature between 60 and 70 wedding dresses, old wedding photographs, floral displays and wedding dress designs by local schoolchildren.

There will be tips for a happy marriage and how to organise a green wedding or a wedding on a budget – while Relate counsellors will also be on hand.

The weekend programme of events also offers a chance for couples to renew their vows.

Judy Eden, who has been married to the church's Rev Michael Eden for 30 years in September, is organising the event.

"We want to highlight all that is good about marriage," she said.

"Marriage is about loving someone and spending the rest of your life with them; it is about sharing in the happy times and knowing that somebody is always there."

The opening ceremony will take place tomorrow at 10am followed by a renewal of vows service at 3pm.

On Sunday, there will be a wedding songs of praise at 6pm.

The exhibition will be open throughout the weekend, closing at 4pm on Monday.
