Bury St Edmunds Director of Rugby Gavin Hogg hailed his side’s battling qualities after they overturned a 20-3 half-time deficit to complete an impressive 24-20 success over visiting Chinnor.

Defeat against their second-bottom visitors would have dragged Bury right back into the relegation fold in National League Two South and it looked very much the case at the interval as Chinnor capitalised fully on a lackluster opening 40 minutes from the hosts.

However, a superb second-half fight back saw Gavin Hogg’s charges, roared on by the 500 plus crowd, battle back in howling wind and torrential rain to overturn the deficit and clinch a victory with a dramatic penalty try in the final minutes.
