BURY St Edmunds Under-17s enjoyed tremendous success at a recent tournament at Hookers Rugby Club, Hook of Hooland, Netherlands, winning all five of their matches comfortably.
They started well in the first game of the tournament against Waterloo and coasted to a 21-0 victory courtesy of tries from Jamie Cooke, Harry Bullock and Sean Davis, all converted by Dale Gibson.
This was followed up with another impressive display against Letchworth, as tries from Trevor Clough, Harry Bullock, Sean Davis, Josh Hollingworth, Cameron Ramsay and Chris Silk confirmed a 34-0 win.
Torquay were up next, but again they were powerless to stop Bury’s dominance as they grabbed an emphatic 53-0 victory.
Ramsey was again among the scorers breaking, the deadlock, and was followed with further tries from, captain Joe Phillips (2), Bennett, Bullock (2), Alex Hollingworth and Silk.
After a tentative start in their next match Hookers/Delft, Bury finally found their form to cruise to a second consecutive 53-0 victory.
First-half tries from Bullock, Ollie Blake, Gibson and Sean Davis were followed by further scores after the interval from Cooke, Josh Hollingworth and prop Ryan Newton to maintain Bury’s unbeaten run.
In their final match against Malton and Norton, Bury finally conceded their first points of the tournament, but still secured victory, 31-7.
Ed Barrett’s opener was added to by Josh Hollingworth, Bullock and Billy Ruston as Bury seized control.
Malton and Norton responded with a converted try, but it proved only a consolation as Bury ended the tournament unbeaten, scoring 192 points with 35 tries and only conceded seven points in a triumphant finish to the season.
The day was finished off with prize giving, with captain Joe Phillips and vice captain Trevor Clough receiving the trophy.
