DIVISION TWO

Thurston 1st XV 51 Mildenhall 0

THURSTSON claimed top spot in Eastern Counties Two with a superb performance against a battling Mildenhall.

The hosts’ dominance was evident form the early stages as Ben Sinclair kicked a penalty to open the scoring before Scott Dallas crashed over following an un-stoppable rolling maul drive.

Just before half-time, the home side extended their lead to 15-0 with Craig Wilson adding a second try, converted by Sinclair.

After the interval, Thurston’s superior control over the set piece proved to lay the foundations for Thurston to kick on as six tries were scored, four of which were converted by Sinclair.

Four of the six tries came from man-of-the-match Oliver Paxman and a further one from his fellow back row, Dom Stott.

Not wanting to miss out on the action in the backs, fly-half James Symonds ran a great line to touch down the last try of the day.

Thurston’s next match is a firsts versus seconds clash against Thetford at Robinson Field on March 3.
