Third championship for Kings

BURY St Edmunds Tchoukball Club secured their third consecutive Bournemouth Beach Tchoukball Championships title, hosted at Boscombe Beach.

The Bury Kings went unbeaten in the competition, having topped their group with six wins out of six without losing a set.

They proceeded to beat Acton and German side Halver in the semi-finals and final respectively.

But it was a tough final against the German outfit. Bury triumphed in the first set and Halver won the second, but Bury claimed the final set 15-12.

Bury St Edmunds Tchoukball Club coach, and Bury Kings player Mike Harman said: “It was an epic final. It’s my first time with the senior team, and to win in my first year is amazing.”

The Bury Saints, made up of first-time players, unfortunately came up short in their tournament.

Bury will begin their training schedule to defend their National league championship on November 11 in Peterborough.

The team have also qualified for the European Championships to be held in Geneva, Switzerland later next year.

The club train at Howard Middle School, Bury St Edmunds every Thursday (8pm-9pm) which is open to everyone.

n Bury St Edmunds Tchoukball Club have also announced a three year sponsorship deal with CEG Productions, a Norfolk-based theatre light and sound production company.

The new sponsorship deal is part of the club’s rebranding which has also included new team names Bury Kings and Bury Saints which replace Bury Blitz and Bury Blaze.
