SUFFOLK crashed out of the MCCA Knockout Trophy after suffering a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Cambridgeshire at Bury St Edmunds’ Victory Ground yesterday.

Bury’s Tom Huggins (21) joint top-scored with the bat as Suffolk scored 176, while club team-mates Justin Bishop (20) and Scott Harvey (10) also made double figures.

Suffolk skipper Bishop clean bowled opener Alan Burton (2) early on and went on to end with figures of 10-1-41-2, but it was not enough as Cambs reached their target with more than seven overs to spare.

Following their exit from the 50-over competition, Suffolk must now turn their attentions to the three-day format, with the beginning of their Minor Counties Championship Eastern Division campaign at Bedfordshire on Sunday.
