Stowmarket Swimming Club struck gold seven times in an impressive start to Suffolk ASA County Championships at Crown Pools in Ipswich.
Over the first weekend, top of the podium was: Robert Lancaster in the boys’ 15 to 16 years 200m breaststroke (2.32.32) and the 50m breaststroke (31.95); Thomas Claire in the boys’ 11 and under 50m backstroke (35.07) and 100m backstroke (1.16.78); Chloe Long in girls’ 13 years 200m backstroke (2.32.08); Liam Kerry in boys 15-16 years 50m backstroke (29.43); Alex Harrison in boys’ 13 years 50m backstroke (33.40).
There were also silver medals for: Manfred Battle, Emily Wallace, Jack Spain, Cally Pickering and Calvin Coe.
Bronze medals were won by: Chloe Long, Chloe Allen, Liam Kerry, Luca Clarke, Manfred Battle, Jack Spain, Mikey Fisher, while personal bests were achieved by: William Debenham, Ollie Pyle, Amy Davies, Ruairidh Penman and Logan Pyle.
Stowmarket Seals coach Sylvia Harrison said: “I was particularly pleased for Calvin Coe achieving his first East Region time for two years in the 200m breaststroke, and Chloe Long getting her first regional qualifying time in the 200m backstroke this year.”
In total, 34 swimmers qualified to swim in the County Championships 2013, which continues at the weekend.
