Mildenhall Fen Tigers have revealed they have taken the decision to rest teenage reserve Nathan Stoneman with immediate effect.
His place in the side will be taken by Ryan Terry-Daly who was part of the Grand Slam winning side last season.
Fen Tigers chairman Kevin Jolly said “This has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in all my years in speedway.
“We just feel that Nathan needs a rest from racing so that he can go and practise and get plenty of laps in to build his confidence again after coming back from his broken leg.
“He has done his best for us this year but it was a big thing to comeback from such a bad injury and maybe in hindsight everything has happened a bit too quickly”.
Jolly continued “We know that Nathan has the ability to be a top rider and once he has got himself sorted out I am sure we’ll see that potential again.
“He is a smashing lad who is popular with everyone at the club, but in the end hard as it will seem, we felt this decision was in everyone’s best interests.
“Hopefully we can welcome him back into the team sooner rather than later”.
Jolly also confirmed that Terry-Daly will make his 2013 debut for Mildenhall at Stoke on Saturday.
“He looked impressive in practise at West Row on Sunday and is gating much better than last year. We’ve heard that he’s been making progress in New Zealand over the winter so I am sure he’ll take this opportunity to show us what he can do”.
Meanwhile a decision on Jon Armstrong’s fitness for the weekend, will be made later in the week after he injured his knee in the defeat at the Isle of Wight on Tuesday.
