Three Mildenhall Fen Tigers riders have found out who they will ride for in next season’s Elite League.
After a rule was passed that the best National League riders would be used at reserve in the Elite League from 2014, a draft took place this afternoon, placing three of the Tigers’ stars into the country’s top teams.
Teenager Josh Bates has been picked by Swindon Robins — who finished second in the Elite League standings last year before losing to the Poole Pirates in the play-off semi-finals — Brandon-based Stefan Nielsen will ride for Belle Vue and Danny Halsey will link up with former Mildenhall Fen Tigers teammate Lewis Blackbird at the Eastbourne Eagles.
Former Tiger and Suffolk-based rider Joe Jacobs was selected to join Wolverhampton Wolves, the current team of reigning world champion Tai Woffinden.
The trio would still be available to ride for the Tigers if selected for the team next year — something the West Row-based outfit will finalise in the coming weeks and months.
