Saturday saw rising chess sensation Anita Somton undertake an unusual challenge as she faced all-comers outside The Apex in Bury St Edmunds.
The 10-year-old, who started playing chess just three years ago with the Bury Knights Junior Chess Club, played 20 games, losing one, drawing two and winning 17.
She is now preparing to represent England in the European Youth Chess Championships, taking place in Georgia in October.
There she will face girls from the likes of Russia, Azerbaijan and Romania.
n To help her fulfil her burgeoning chess career, Somton is looking for local companies to sponsor her with her upcoming trip to Georgia costing in the region of £2,000 for travel and accomidation.
