A HOST of local speedway talent will battle it out for the right to pull on the final Mildenhall Fen Tigers jersey next month (writes Mark Williams).

Following the double signing of Lewis Blackbird and Danny Halsey this week, the Fenmen have just one spot in the team remaining ahead of the National League curtain-raiser against Dudley on April 17 – and it is believed up to 15 riders could be in contention to land that final spot.

The shoot-out will take place at the club’s press and practice day at West Row on Monday, April 11. The announcement of the winner is expected later that day.

“We are hoping for anything between 12 and 15 riders having a go,” said co-promoter Kevin Jolly. “We want them to flex their muscles and show us what they are made of. It should make for a good day.”

A number of racers have already declared their interest in next month’s trial, including Aaron Baseby, Niall Strudwick, Adam Kirby and Andy Braithwate.
