Bury St Edmunds begin what director of rugby Gavin Hogg describes as ‘an important run of games’ at The Haberden this weekend, writes Alex Moss.
The Wolfpack (9th) host eighth-place Redingensians Rams tomorrow (3pm) looking to halt a run of three defeats which has seen them drop into the bottom half of the table.
With games against Exmouth, Barnes and Barnstaple, the current bottom three sides in the table, to follow after this weekend, Hogg knows how crucial it will be for his side to pick up points if they are to achieve their ambitions of a top-six finish this season.
“We spoke about it after the game against Chinnor (on Saturday,45-14 loss),” the Bury director of rugby said.
“It’s an important run of games right up until Christmas now for us.
“We have ambitions to improve on our league position last year (7th) and to do that we need to start putting back-to-back wins on the board.
“It’s no good winning one then losing a couple. If we want to be in the top six and competing with the sides up there then we need to put four or five wins together.”
The Wolfpack will be boosted by the return of both Darren Gillespie and Sam Sterling tomorrow.
