Robinson wins by 83 seconds

STEVE Robinson ensured a victory for Saint Edmund Pacers at the annual Ipswich JAFFA Friday Five, the first race in the Friday Five Series.

Robinson blasted home in 26mins 21secs to win the race overall by an impressive 83 seconds.

There was also a top 10 finish for Glenn Douglas, who finished seventh in a swift 28.30, a good time for a tough course, which boasts a stiff climb during the last mile back up to St Joseph’s College.

Andy Taylor completed the Pacers scoring team in 16th spot with 29.39.

There were also some strong performances from the Pacers’ ladies, not least Anna Clayton, who was sixth in 36.20.

Claire Hoblyn was third in her competitive over-45 age category, and 11th overall in 37.11, while Jessie Gooderham was second in the junior under-17 age group in 38.41.

Her sister, Emily Gooderham, was just 13 seconds slower and third under-17.

Another top three category finisher was Karen Hatton. She was third over-50 veteran with 42.22.
