Saint Edmund Pacers’ leading junior athletes represented Suffolk Schools at the recent Anglian Schools Cross Country Championships, held near Grantham in Lincolnshire.

In the senior girls’ event, Emily Gooderham was an excellent 18th and Alice Maguire also scored in 22nd spot.

E Gooderham (37th) and Gemme Grose (45th) were both in action in the under-15 girls’ age group.

Suffolk Schools won the aggregate trophy for the seventh year in succession, beating teams from Northamptonshire, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and hosts Lincolnshire.

Meanwhile, the Pacers are holding their annual Bury Tarpley 20-mile and 10-mile road races this Sunday, from Beyton School.

The 20-mile race begins at 10.30am and the 10-mile at 10.45am. The races start and finish at the school.

Pacers’ members are encouraged to try and bring along some cakes as refreshments.
