UNDER-10s

Bury St Edmunds Hockey Club fielded three teams at last Sunday’s round of the Suffolk Youth League, played at Ipswich’s Hendon Road ground and involving a total of 12 teams from Bury, Sudbury, Ipswich and Felixtowe.

The A team maintained their unbeaten record, winning their six matches and scoring a total of 30 goals. Their strength lay in the dominance of midfield
players Charles Page-Blair, Lotte Adams and Harriet Green, who linked effectively with strikers George Bedford and Nat Wilkes.

The B team played five matches and won four, only losing to the Bury A team.

Will Gibbs performed excellently in goal, while James Thompson and Poppy Vass got on the scoresheet and Olivia Coe performed strongly in defence.

It was also a positive tournament for the C team, with many players were new to matches and some very new to hockey, conceding only one goal to a strong Ipswich A side and following it up with two victories.

Ben Alberts and Ben Armitage provided a lightening strike force in attack, while Millie Gale played strongly in midfield. There was also an excellent goalkeeping display by Natasha Cubitt.
