Lucy makes the grade with black belt in karate
BACK TO BLACK: Lucy Emmerson is congratulated by examiners after winning a black belt
LUCY Emmerson has gained her black belt (Sho-dan) in Shotokan Karate at The Barrow Academy.
Lucy had to write a 2,000-word essay and had a two-hour practical exam, which included fighting four other black belts, two of which came from London.
Examiners were Sensei Glen Moulds (5th Dan), Melissa Nicholas (3rd Dan) and Andy Walls (3rd Dan).
