Ladell in line for junior title

CHARLES Ladell is on course to win the Ford Fiesta Junior Championship after he secured a double success at Snetterton, with his eighth and ninth wins of the season.

The Bury St Edmunds racer won both races from pole position to stretch his lead at the top of the driver standings to more than 20 points, with just two races remaining.

A time of 1.29.00 was enough for Ladell to secure pole for rounds 13 and 14, and he got off to the perfect start in race one of the weekend, holding on to the lead before moving away from his rivals.

A saftey car on lap four wiped out any advantage the 16-year-old had gained, but he was unfazed as he rebuilt his lead following the safety car’s exit, crossing the line first to take his eighth win of the year.

In race two, the Saxmax Championship Rookie Champion 2011 once again got off to a flying start, leaving the other drivers in his wake as he extended his lead lap by lap, meeting the chequered flag six seconds ahead of his nearest challenger.

It was Ladell’s fourth double win of the year and he has now recorded an impressive nine wins in just 14 races.

The Suffolk teenager will be looking to wrap up the championship in the last meet of the season at the Formula Ford Festival, Brands Hatch, on October 27/28.
