Hot weather a problem

BLACKDYKE Trout Fishery saw some difficult conditions last week with the hot weather. The aerators were holding fish and the bank anglers casting to the boils with good success.

Small nymphs and daddies were the most successful. Boat anglers were doing well casting to the weed edges with small dries.

Weed cutting will be starting this week, with apologies for any inconvenience.

Contact the lodge on 07525 730447 for any information.

n IT WAS a game of two halves at Larkwood last week, with the fish being near the surface and coming to damsels pulled fast, and dries at the start of the week.

As the temperature rose, the fish went down to the 12-foot-mark and were best taken with intermediate line and a slow figure of eight retrieve.

Other good flies were pheasant tail and mayfly nymph.

There is still a small hatch of mayfly on West Stow Lake.

A number of fish were caught around the 5lb mark, with a few smaller browns showing as well.

Tuition courses are fully booked for August, but places are available for September.
