Emily Gredley, a pupil from Cherry Trees Prep School in Risby, scooped first place in the annual Gresham Prep School Cross Country Championships.

The cross country event saw record numbers of competitors participating in the seventh annual Championship.

The event was attended by 550 children, hailing from 28 schools from Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.

Emily ran the 900m long course across fields and through woods in a blistering time of four minutes and nine seconds, falling only 17 seconds short of the Gresham’s record.

A great run saw Emily beat off the rest of the 105 girls competing in her race with relative ease.
