CATCH: Daniel Tranter with the Brown he caught at Blackdyke Trout

BLACKDYKE Trout Fishery has been on top form this week, with top of the water action. Small dries and a hatch of mayflies have seen the trout rising in the clear water, buzzers still taking plenty of fish.

Under-16s can share a full adult day ticket with catch and release included – a great way to spend time with the family.

For further information, contact the lodge on 07525 730447.

n THE fish are still up in the top two feet of water at Larkwood, and will come up readily to small black dries, with hoppers also starting to take fish.

Another good method is to fish a black buzzer, either static or with a super-slow figure-of-eight retrieve.

Warren Barwick, completed a double this week, with a personal best brown trout of around 8lbs, which was returned. This follows his best rainbow of just under 6lbs, two weeks previously.

As mentioned in last week’s report, the first mayfly have hatched. If the weather is not too cold, there should be a good hatch of these in the near future and they can last right up to July.

Please note there are only two spaces left for tuition in June. Telephone Ian on 07776 370348 to book.
