Newson sets new European record and PB

Powerlifting sensation Zoe Newson put in a show-stopping performance to clinch a new Junior European record at the UK IPC Bench Press Championships at Folkestone in Kent last weekend.

The 20-year-old 
Suffolk Spartan member was involved in the event on the South coast alongside strong competition from other international athletes as well as a mixture of experienced elite athletes and talented novices.

Newson, who claimed an impressive bronze 
medal at last summer’s London Olympics Games, once again showcased her undoubted potential,lifting a personal best of 91kg to set a new junior European record for the 44kg class.
