Callum Wilkinson blitzed the field at the first UKA National Race Walking Championships race of the season in the under-20 10km event in Sheffield on Saturday.
The event brought together the country’s top three juniors — Wilkinson, Alex Eaton (Isle of Man) and Cameron Corbishley (Medway and Maidstone).
However, the Bury-based King Edward VI School sixth former’s two main rivals had no answer to his superb technique, forcing them to make mistakes in pursuit.
Corbishley retired from the race after earning two of the three red cards that would have seen him disqualified, while Eaton picked up all three to be kicked out of the race.
Brother George won the 2km under-13 category in 14 minutes 22 seconds.
