Teenage race walker Callum Wilkinson created his own piece of history on Saturday after becoming the youngest ever winner of the Enfield Open seven miles.

The 16-year-old, who is a sixth former at King Edward VI School, finished the race — which was first staged in 1921 — in a time of 57 minutes 46 seconds, 16 seconds ahead of runner-up Jonathan Hobbs.

Although Wilkinson won the 87th running of the event outright, his Enfield and Haringey team had to settle for the second spot in the team competition.
