Wheelers impress in Suffolk Circuit Race Series

West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club members sealed a host of promising finishes in the third round of the Suffolk Circuit Race Series.

Sam Asker enjoyed an impressive ride in the combined Under-14/16 race to clinch place with Fabian Horrocks and Felix Wilden also both acquitting themselves well.

Graham Smith finished narrowly ahead of Darren Baker in the Go Race event, while Andy Brinkley (category three), Tom Smith, Jeremy Waterstone, Matt Denny, Steve Newman, Mark Dykes and Paul Vickers (all category four) all competed well with Vickers finishing as the highest Wheeler in eighth.

n At the Veteran’s Time Trial Association’s National Championships David Howes and Tricia Goulden were among the 60 competitors who overcame treacherous weather conditions to finish the 25-mile course in one hour and one minute and 58.14 respectively.

n Richard Farrow proved victorious ahead of 20 other riders as the club held its 17.2 mile time trial. Farrow’s time of 43.37 saw him finish ahead of Darren Davis (44.05) and Julian Long (44.26).

n Harley Gregory and mum Nicole both raced at the Colchester Grass Track event with Harley excelling in the Under-8 omnium, winning three out of four events, while Nicole sealed victory in the devil event and performed strongly in a host of scratch races.

n Robin Lines was among a host of Wheelers to compete in round five of Mud Sweat and Gears mountain bike series.

Lines sealed a ninth place finish in the youth category with Jamie Wightman (fifth in Master Male), Malcol Borg (26th Sport Male), Rhys Holland-Jones (13th Juvenile Male) and Garth Collier (21st Open Male) also performing well.
