West Suffolk Wheelers Matt Shingleton and Esther Colman stormed to victory in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, of the club’s Culford Sprint Distance Triathlon on Sunday.

Fellow Wheelers Annie Drugan, Julian Long and Jill Wilshaw earned wins in their respective age groups of the 300-metre swim, 21-kilometre and 4k run at Culford School.

Top 10 overall: 1 Matt Shingleton (51 minutes 57 seconds); 2 Mark Eden (51.58); 3 Lee Shipp (53.31); 4 Julian Long (54.25); 5 Dominic Bruce (55.51); 6 = Darren Sharman (56.27); 6= Nick Hammond (56.27); 8 Patrick Hannah (56.31); 9 Leon Hayward (56.59); 10 Adam Harley (57.05).

n Chris Wiseman (two hours 22 minutes) was 43rd overall and fifth in his age group in the Cotswold DBmax Olympic Triathlon of 1.5k swim, 41k cycle and 9k run.

n Junior Wheelers Libby Mills (eight to 10 years’ category), Amy Mills (11 to 12 years) and Charlie Knowler (eight to 10 years) took part in the Castle Howard Junior Triathlon in North Yorkshire last Saturday.

Libby Mills – in her first ever triathlon – was the 59th girl home in her age group, sister Amy Mills 12th girl in her age range and Knowler eight overall in his category.

Ron Back (26 minutes 13 seconds) and David Howes (26.55) were victorious in their age categories in the third round of Victoria Cycling Club’s 10.2-mile series from Audley End to Great Chesterford.

Henry Wood (27.25), David Young (28.26) and James Greenwood (28.30) also took part.
