County Upper School Basketball Academy side managed to repeat their heroics of last season to be crowned the third best Under-18s boys team in the country.

The Bury St Edmunds-based school negotiated their way past a strong Birmingham Met team (81-75) en route to the Elite 8 stages of the Under-18s National School Championships, where they beat Derby College, featuring two internationals, 90-64.

But in the final four they met their match in Loretto College from Manchester, the reigning National League champions, losing 72-67.

Their subsequent 58-point winning margin in the play-off game against Surrey-based Holy Trinity School ensured they took third spot, leaving proud head coach Darren Johnson to label it a ‘great achievement for both our players and County Upper School’.
