THETFORD Golf Club kicked off their centenary year celebrations on Sunday by unveiling a granite plaque and raising a new centenary flag over the clubhouse.

The club was opened on June 24, 1912, and so the main celebrations will take place around the middle of June this year.

This includes hosting the Norfolk County Amateur Championships on the weekend of June 16 and 17, and then the East Region PGA is holding a Pro-Am on Monday, June 18.

Then follows a whole host of events for members that include a guest day, competitions every day, a dinner dance and a formal centenary dinner.

Finally on Sunday, June 24, 2012, there is a fun day that includes golf, a golf trick show by Kevin Carpenter and an evening of jazz and theatre by the Thetford Drama Society.
