Thetford boys impress in the ring

Talented Thetford youngsters once again entered the ring as the Attleborough boxers performed in the fifth Annual Attleborough Boxing Club Spring Home Show on Saturday at the Connaught Hall.

Charlie Connaughton, 11, kicked the evening off performing well in his third skills bout, while Milo Clay, Connor Holloway and Michael Jordan all walked away unanimous winners.

Clay put in a controlled performance, to out score a tough opponent in Finchley’s A McDonagh, while Holloway out-powered Chelmsford’s M Saunders in an all-out battle of wills.

Jordan finished the evening in style in a hard-hitting battle against Mayland’s B Weston.

Thetford Academy Student Misha Vasiljev just lost out on a split decision after showing class workmanship against Stamford’s M Sameer, who was awarded Bout of the Night for his stellar performance.

Attleborough head coach Jon Dennis said he was incredibly proud of all the boxers, with this year’s squad seeing almost half reside in Thetford.

The people of the south Norfolk town will be in for a treat on May 30 as the club bring boxing back to Thetford in their first show outside of Attleborough in many years. Tickets for ‘The Boys are Back in Town’ show are priced at £12 per ticket.
