Connor Holloway will be aiming to produce a knockout performance this weekend as he goes in search of gold in the Senior Novice Championships.
The Thetford-based star will be in action in an Under-56kg bout at the prestigious York Hall in Bethnal Green tomorrow as he aims to clinch more glory for Attleborough Boxing Club, following the success of Santiago Weaver, who was crowned under-75kg Junior Development Champion earlier this month.
The 20-year-old fought his way into silver medal position in the semi-finals of the competition in Watford last weekend with a devastating display.
From the very first moment the bell rang in the first round, Holloway out-powered and out-worked opponent Dan Almond from St Mary’s BC.
He continued out-working his opponent, landing shot after shot throughout the second and third rounds to clinch a unanimous points win and seal his place in tomorrow’s final showpiece.
Reflecting on his boxer’s chances of success, Attleborough Boxing Club’s head coach Jon Dennis fully expects Holloway to return home with another gold medal for the club.
“Connor boxed exceptionally well in the semi-finals, he went out there and gave it his all,” he said.
“Adding a second national title win to the club’s arsenal this year will be a great boost for both him and the club,
“He is very strong at his weight and is very well placed to take the gold.”
