Bury St Edmunds handcyclist Brian Alldis has said he is looking forward to testing himself against the best in the world as his UCI Paracycling Road World Cup season gets under way in Italy today.
The Paralympian is part of a nine-strong Great Britain paracycling team for the event in the Tuscany seaside town of Castiglione Della Pescaia.
A flat time trial of 16km begins through the town centre course today with a 73km road race to follow tomorrow.
Points will be awarded for top 10 finishes in both events, which then go towards qualifying for the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016.
“The target is to finish in the top 10,” said Alldis. “I am feeling strong and we have amazing support from British Cycling and I’m really looking forward to testing my self against the best in the world.”
After Castiglione Della Pescaia, the series will move to Spain in Cantimpalos, Segovia from July 25 to 27.
