BURY Conquerors kept themselves in touch with Division One leaders British Sugar with a victory at Sugar.
They got off to a good start when Joe Easdown played in a controlled manner to beat Phil Sinclair 11-13, 11-8, 11-3, 13-11.
Dominic Melero squared the match by overcoming Matt Easdown 12-10, 11-2, 11-5 but Andy Dosher put Conquerors ahead again with an 11-7, 11-8, 11-7 win over Mark James.
Melero fought back for Sugar by beating Joe Easdown 11-9, 11-3, 11-8 but Conquerors forged ahead when Dosher beat Sinclair 11-6, 11-9, 7-11, 11-6 and Melero 12-10, 11-7, 8-11, 11-5.
Matt Easdown’s 9-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-3 win over James, meant Sugar trailed 5-2 in the match.
However, the Sugar side refused to buckle and wins by James over Joe Easdown 11-3, 11-5, 11-13, 11-6 and Sinclair over Matt Easdown 11-4, 9-11, 11-6, 13-11 gave them a chance of snatching a draw by winning the doubles.
This proved to be the tightest contest of the evening, with James and Melero taking two of the first three legs 11-9, 6-11, 11-9.
At this stage, they looked favourites but Dosher and Matt Easdown edged through, taking the final legs 13-11, 12-10 to give Conquerors a 6-4 win.
