SHUTTLEWORTH Park, Biggleswade, hosted the 2011 South of England Cross Country Relays.

West Sufffolk AC under-13’s Girls repeated their silver medal performance of the previous week and this was matched by the U15’s Boys.

The combined U17/20 Women were first away, racing over 2500m. Holly Archer led the field home on the first leg, clocking the fastest time of the day, 8 minutes and 58 seconds.

With an incomplete U20 team, Emily Baker’s 11:00 left the team second at the final changeover.

Beth Tooley led off for the U17 and had a solid run to fifth overall in 10:07.

Katie Duncan moved the team to fourth with a 10:15 second leg and Lauren James brought the team home in fifth clocking 11:36.

Thomas McCarthy moved to first leg in the absence of Jacob Freeborough and produced 7:41 for the 2000m loop for 12th.

New squad member, Tommy Martin recorded a respectable 8:56, putting the incomplete team 15th.

A reshuffling of the order produced the same result for the U13 Girls. Sophie Tooley led off and 7:13 put the team in the lead and was again second fastest of the day.

Nella Walters’ 7:50 second leg put the team second and Holly Davies anchored the team home to the silver medal with a 7:55 final leg.

Megan Newton for the B team clocked 8:42.

Mac Delo took the opening leg for U17 Boys and had superb run to second recording 9:40 for the 3000m course.

Mac also ran the second fastest time of the day.

Adam Cripps again brought home the incomplete team in fourth with a 10:49 second leg.

The U15 Boys took an excellent silver medal. Michael Bartram led off and clocked 6:56 for sixth.

Ben Eames’ 7:05 moved the team to fourth.

Cameron McKie’s blistering 6:17, easily the fastest time of the day, saw him almost catch the leader at the line.
