THREE Fighting Fit Martial Arts Club students obtained new black belts at the weekend.

Nineteen-year-old Nathan Abbott, of Bury St Edmunds, an IT Technical Apprentice at West Suffolk Hospital, obtained his 1st Dan black belt in kickboxing.

Sixteen-year-old Ellen Wappett, of Bury St Edmunds, a GCSE student at County Upper School, obtained her 3rd Dan black belt in taekwondo and kickboxing.

She began training when she was just two years old at dad Billy’s club and obtained her 1st Dan black belt in 2006 and her 2nd Dan in 2008.

Kevin Bailey, a teacher from Bury St Edmunds, was awarded his 2nd Dan black belt in taekwondo, having obtained his 1st Dan in 2010.

Black belt certificates were also awarded to three juniors, who were awarded their black belts in October 2011 and who have completed their six months post-black belt training.

These were Shannon Wade (1st Dan taekwondo), Elise Stockdale (1st Dan taekwondo) and Buster Wappett (2nd Dan taekwondo and kickboxing).
