Strong conclusion to County Championships

West Suffolk swimmers 
covered themselves in glory in the second weekend of the County Championships.

The boys’ 100m butterfly saw 11-year-old William Tozer 
second in age group, with 12-year-old Jack Bowyer winning gold.

In the girls’ 100m backstroke, Emma Lees (seventh) and Lana Mo (eighth) qualified for the 15/16yrs final. Esther Little was fifth (second out of the 13-year-olds).

In 50m breaststroke Isobel Bettley (9-11yrs) finished fourth in the final, Lana Mo won gold (15/16yrs) followed home by Beth Mottram (fifth). Ruth Burgess just missed out on the 12-14yrs final.

The gruelling boys’ 400m IM saw William Tozer finish second (11yrs), but there was a clean sweep in the 12yrs group: William Harpur-Davies gold, Jack Bowyer silver, Logan Pyle bronze and Ciaran Riches fourth.

Charlie Whyte picked up bronze (13yrs), a 12-second improvement.

Myles Turner was third (14yrs) and Taylor Bowen sixth. Andrew Kimpton was fourth (17+).

In the girls’ 200m butterfly, Lucy Hudson claimed silver (10yrs), Ella Hale and Isobel Bettley gaining gold and silver (11yrs). Niamh Perry finished second (12yrs). In the 15/16 age group, Beth Mottram took third (second in the 16yrs).

William Tozer finished fourth in the 50m butterfly final, Jack Bowyer (12-14yrs) fifth, finishing as top 12-year-old, in 30.38. William Harpur-Davies finished third in the same age group.

The girls’ 50m backstroke saw Ella Hale improving on her eighth seed, with a sixth place final finish. Esther Little (13) finished eighth.

In the 100m individual medley, Jack Bowyer finished second, William Harpur-Davies third and William Tozer fourth.

The 200m breaststroke saw Isobel Bettley take gold, Lucy Hudson silver and Ella Hale bronze. Niamh Perry picked up third (12yrs), Olivia Nicolai second (14yrs). Lana Mo and Beth Mottram were the top two (15/16yrs).

The boys’ 200m backstroke saw William Tozer fifth. William Harpur-Davies and Jack Bowyer had yet another battle, Harpur-Davies taking gold and Bowyer bronze (12yrs). Myles Turner was second (14yrs) with Alex Proffitt top 15/16year-old.

Myles Turner finished third in the 14/U 100m breaststroke final. Ollie Pyle fifth and Taylor Bowen sixth.

Ben Wilkinson was the third-placed 15year-old, with Edward Briars eighth the 17+ final.

In the 100m freestyle, Lucy Hudson took gold (11yrs), Esther Little finished second (13yrs) while Olivia Nicolai reached the 14/U final. Emma Lees was fourth in the 15-16yrs final and Lana Mo third fastest 15-year-old.

William Tozer cut seven seconds off his previous best in the boys’ 200m freestyle, finishing fifth (11yrs). William Harpur-Davies picked up gold (12yrs), with Jack Bowyer third.

The girls’ 200m IM saw Ella Hale (11) second, Lucy Hudson (10) third and Isobel Bettley (11) fourth. Niamh Perry (13yrs) won silver, Esther Little bronze, and Lana Mo finished second (15/16yrs).
