Stowmarket Striders have recently been successful in regaining Clubmark accreditation status and were presented with their Clubmark award at the club’s training venue at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre in the town.

England Athletics’ Clubmark Accredited Club status forms part of the only national cross-sports quality accreditation scheme.

It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.

Through completion of the accreditation the club have demonstrated excellent practice in a number of areas of club, coach and athlete development.

Club welfare officer Jodey Hammond said: “This award is a testament to the dedication of the Stowmarket Striders club coaches and committee.

“They always strive for higher standards of coaching while keeping the sessions enjoyable and interesting. This has been demonstrated by the increasing number of junior and adult members.”

Stowmarket Striders has a thriving junior section which caters for athletes from nine to 16 years old, and provides weekly training sessions as well as the opportunity to take part in local races and competitions.

Local Club and Coach Support Officer Tania Spurling presented the award at a recent training night, describing them as ‘exceptionally proactive’.
