Ron Woodham, last year’s Stowmarket Golf Club captain and chairman, along with past ladies’ section captain Rani Pearson made a joint presentation to Janet Oliverof the Motor Neurone Disease Suffolk Fund Raising Group of £7,925.91.

Woodham said the amount raised was exceptionally high this year as a result of a very successful club 50th site anniversary celebration held during the middle of the year.

He expressed thanks to members and guests of the club for their kind generosity throughout the golfing year.

The funds will be used to provide much-needed support and equipment to assist sufferers and their families in Suffolk in many ways such as speech aids and household adaptions to help mobility difficulties.

Ron and Rani both chose the charity for their captain’s year as a tribute to personal friends who had suffered this disease and which they feel richly deserves a much higher profile.
