Lackford Lake hosted the St Edmundsbury Sailing and Canoeing Association’s Ladies’ Day regatta on Sunday, but disappointingly, only three helms competed for the trophy.
Debs Steele, in her Byte CII, emerged victorious after three races from Vicky Forkes, crewed by her husband Guy in their Lark, with Fliss Elsom-Cooke taking third place in her Vareo.
Meanwhile, in the open class, a good battle emerged between the four competing Lasers.
Mike Steele and Commodore Kieron Adams had a close contest in the first race, with Steele and Mike Senior leading the pairings in the second.
In the overall placings, Steele won with Carl Day and Alan Shaw putting in a consistent series in their Enterprise to claim second and Adams finishing third.
Sam Doye, who was racing a Club Topper for the first time, put up a spirited performance, finishing all three races.
This Sunday, the Summer Series continues, followed by Culford School sailing on Monday evening; WASH Sailability sailing on Tuesday; Young People Afloat sailing on Wednesday evening and a club pursuit race on Thursday evening.
