Risbygate Sports Club has confirmed a star-studded line-up of the world’s top indoor players for its eagerly-anticipated inaugural Masters competition.
There will be 14 of the top UK-ranked players competing alongside two of Risbygate’s own members — Martin Rumball and Liam Botten, who qualified via winning their halfs of an inter-club knockout competition on January 15 — at the Westley Road club in Bury St Edmunds a week on Sunday (February 19).
The club’s own international player, Stowmarket-based Mark Royal, helped to organise the stellar line-up and said: “We will have several ex and current world champions in the line-up and this looks to be the biggest gathering within the Eastern Region after the World Championships.”
The tournament will start at 10am with the 16 players playing round one in two sessions and match play of two sets of seven ends. In the afternoon the knockout session continues until the final two play for a £1,000 first prize.
While free, spectator tickets will be limited and any bowls enthusiast wishing to enjoy this day of Masters champions should call the office at Risbygate Sports Club on 01284 755468 between 8am and 12 noon Monday to Friday to guarantee their free entry.
