BURY St Edmunds Croquet Club travelled to Colchester and came away with an impressive overall 6-1 victory.
In the morning, Justin Blake-James and Simon Conran played doubles against Robert Jackline and Keith Saunders and eased their way to 18-10 success.
Dan Neale followed this up by beating Graham Bond by six hoops on time, but Alan Plested lost to David Haslam by 20 hoops in a disastrous match for Plested.
In the afternoon, with Bury St Edmunds 2-1 ahead, Conran looked like losing to Bond but, in the last hour, he caught up, winning by three hoops on time.
Despite staging a valiant comeback, Saunders lost to Neale 26-19, while no-one was more surprised than Blake-James to beat Haslam by 11 hoops on time.
Finally, Plested recovered from his earlier defeat to beat Jackline by 11 hoops on time.
