Bury St Edmunds Ladies II moved to the top of the Suffolk Ladies’ League Premier 
Division by edging out Christchurch II 1-0 on Saturday.

Julie Dunger scored the only goal after nine minutes and Bury held on for the rest of the match to reach the summit.

n Bury Men II’s promotion hopes took a knock in East Men’s League Division Four North East after a 1-1 draw with Ipswich-East Suffolk (IES) III on Saturday.

Paul Lawrence put Ian Konrath through to open the scoring, but as Bury tired, IES snatched an equaliser from a short corner.

n Bury Men IV fell to a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Harleston Magpies VI in Division Six North East.

With some players making their debuts, Bury also welcomed back James Cracknell for his first start in two years.

Tim Thompson fired Bury in front, but they spent most of the rest of the match defending and could not prevent the Magpies from firing in five goals.

n Thetford Ladies won 1-0 at Sprowston II in Empresa Norfolk Women’s League Division One, with the only goal coming when Kathy Hammond deflected in Karen Hodgkinson’s pass.

Jamie Keeble and Sophie Wheeler both went close for Thetford, while Josie Sheahan, Sophie Kelly and Christianne Church defended stoutly.
