Several adventurous riders took part in West Suffolk Wheelers’ annual Suffolk Punch reliability trial 10 years ago, with weather conditions testing their abilities to the full.
The event was set up to give riders an opportunity to prepare for a hard season ahead, the remains of snow on some of the back roads certainly making it a testing experience for everyone.
With the poor weather conditions, only 12 riders turned up at the Moreton Hall Community Centre, left.
They were given a choice of three routes, 38, 46 or 55 miles.
Three riders braved the long course, David Giffin, right, Barry Denny and Lee Sturman.
Giffin will remember the day as one which encountered tough terrain and challenging obstacles, while Denny and Sturman might remember it better for the amount of mud on them when they returned .
Six riders took on the 46-mile route, returning in two groups, while the remaining three cyclists took on the 38-mile route.
